Avenue Lane, Wilden, Bedford

A property of opportunity and potential, on c.17 acres with equestrian facilities, in a peaceful countryside location only 15 minutes from Bedford, between Cambridge and Milton Keynes.

The Property
Currajong is a unique property, built as a one-of-a-kind home in the 1960s. The current owner has lived here since 1971, raising a family, watching them fly the nest, and today welcoming grandchildren for visits. It's been a cherished family home for six decades, made all the more special by having their horses with them on the land.

Currajong is now ready for its next chapter, one full of opportunity and potential for new owners

The house itself presents great possibility. The substantial square footage offers the space needed for a large or multi-generational family, while the flexible floorplan offers the ability for single-storey living if needed. There are three double bedrooms, a bathroom and a wc upstairs, alongside a downstairs bathroom, and multiple reception rooms that could easily become extra bedrooms.

The versatility of the reception rooms proposes further options as to how they're used, whether you work from home, often host, or simply like to keep different activities separate. The owner uses the smallest reception room as a snug, and there's already a dedicated office and a formal dining room. Of course, there's potential to reconfigure the floorplan for a more open-plan layout if preferred. The full-length utility at the side of the accommodation could be joined up with the kitchen to create incredible kitchen/dining/living space.

Currajong truly makes the most of its position, with lots of windows for garden views and open outlooks. The conservatory off the lounge was added for that exact reason, and from here you can watch squirrels hiding their nuts in autumn and leaves appearing come spring. It's also a fantastic spot for growing chillies and peppers!

The Land
The land at Currajong reaches approximately 17 acres in total. The vast majority of this is split across two adjoining fields which have been used for horses and sheep over the years.

The equestrian facilities here include a 20m x 35m mange, a stableblock with three stables and a tack/feed room, plus an open-fronted barn for hay and tractor storage.

The formal gardens consist of an expansive lawn, generous patio areas and an abundance of mature plants and trees. It's a stunning setting in all seasons, secluded from neighbours, and a real haven for wildlife.
Parking at the property is to a gated driveway and a detached garage, providing ample space for multiple vehicles.

This really is a plot that has it all!

The Location
Currajong sits along a small quiet lane, surrounded by countryside, fields and farmland, in the small, peaceful village of Wilden. Wilden has a primary school, a village hall and Pells Farm Shop, while neighbouring Renhold and Ravensden have popular pubs and local shops.

Belying its bucolic setting are Currajong's connections locally, nationally and even internationally. The county town of Bedford is just a 15-minute drive away, while the property sits between Cambridge and Milton Keynes city centres. Major roads such as the M1 and A1 are easily accessible from the address, and mainline rail services from Bedford reach London St Pancras in as little as 38 minutes, via Luton Airport Parkway and continuing to Gatwick Airport.

Bedford has all you could need, from retail, entertainment and places to eat and drink, to sports facilities and semi-professional teams, to the renowned Harpur Trust schools.
